M-CELL: Hybrid fabrication with a Robot

Role: Developer / Collaborator
The M-CELL is a robotic cell built to show the public what automation can do in the creative industry — a robot that draws portraits, live, in front of the person being drawn.
The portraits are made of sinusoidal lines mapped to the brightness of a photo: dark areas get tighter waves, light areas calmer ones. The cell was showcased at the KUKA Mexico Open House and Feria de León 2020, where it drew over 500 portraits.
The project was developed for the Secretary of Economy of the State of Guanajuato, in collaboration with Karl Singline and MakerMex.
